Fees

Following is information on how fees for services in our main areas of focus are determined. If you do not see what you are looking for, or to get a specific quote, please contact our office directly.

Creating a Trust

The cost of creating (or updating) and transferring (funding) assets into a living trust depends upon the type of living trust that you need, the complexity of your instructions, and the number of assets you own that must be transferred into the trust. To get a quote for the preparation of a trust that best suits your needs please call our office at (858) 481-2880. One of our attorneys will be able to quote a range of fees for preparing the trust and all the supporting documents, including powers of attorney and funding documents.

Funding” a trust is the transfer of legal title to your assets to your name as Trustee of your trust.  Once a trust is created it can only control assets that have been properly titled in the name of the trust and this is, therefore, a crucial part of executing your estate plan. If you are shopping for the lowest cost, be sure you know what services are included in the quote of the lowest bidder.  A low quote may not include the cost of transferring assets into the trust or it may not cover the preparation of the supporting documents such as the powers of attorney for health care and for legal matters not involving the trust.

Estate Administration

Simply put, the cost of administering a decedent’s estate depends upon the number of and type of assets than need to be collected, managed and/or distributed, the number of beneficiaries involved in the estate, and the instructions provided in the decedent’s trust.  There can be special circumstances which can increase or decrease the fee, which you can discuss with one of our attorneys. To discuss the fee of administering an estate please feel free to call the office at (858) 481-2880.
